Nice ending. Reminds of the end of the Lovecraft story The Picture In The House where blood starts dripping on a picture the narrator is looking at.

Hmmm, they’re recent. So they neither smell of decay nor are they fragments of what they once have been. And if there’s still enough blood dripping…that means they have been only a few hours. Yep, it’s a massacre.

The stains are really old. They looks like common water stains just a bit darker and with a redder tint because the killer likes to clean up after himself but you know how blood stains~
